Gratitudes Oct 31

  1. I have the day off when needed, like today
  2. Great decorations for classroom already up – surprising the kids
  3. i can breath. not perfectly because have a little something and coughing but fine
  4. will get meds if need
  5. nurse said maybe can bring it up give it few days
  6. principal did something nice for me yesterday
  7. good sub today
  8. middle of day easier to drive all the way to oral surgeon than after a day of work. no choice, but glad it happened this way
  9. chopin this am already
  10. will take HOT short shower
  11. jo visited just to visit last night

  14. not rushed yay
  15. most mornings take my time. get up VERY early so HAVE time now. is better than rushing

  23. Wow! It wasn’t the dental implant that had fallen out; it was only the abutment!
  24. Still, he had to do oral surgery on me. But I’ll be okay.
  25. And – *I* didn’t have to pay a thousand dollars. In fact, THEY owe ME about TWO thousand! They will mail it asap. Yay! I can put 1000 for the other dentist who will put the tooth – that’s what it costs.
  26. And – I can put 1000 to my credit card yay!

Great Healthy Soup I Made

I made this and am eating it right now. Even had some yesterday for breakfast! It is plain and simple and I am loving it!

oil (measure 2 T)
garlic (3 cloves and 1 little one)
onion 1/2 large
carrots – baby – 6?
celery – 5 stalks with tops?
soften with lid then few minutes without lid so onion sort of starts to brown
add 1 quart Field Day veg broth
salt
black pep
1 box frozen spinach, thawed in microwave and squeezed dry
rosemary
sage
red lentils – 1 1/2 cups? 2 cups?

You know, cook til starts to boil, then simmer with lid askew for like a couple of hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
Yum!

I will try it.
PS It’s not so much fat-fighting, imo, as eating any healthy soup helps with not overeating…

Seems good except of course I’ll most likely sub vegan parm for reg parm and I will use vegan broth of course

They say 2 1/2 cups is a serving (I’d have thought less)
They also list the benefits of kidney beans, chickpeas. semoline pasta, cooked tomatoes, green beans, and parm, onions, spinach, and black pep

2 onions, chopped
2 carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
4 cups vegan broth unchicken type (Imagine) or reg. (Field Day)
3 cups water
1 14.5-oz can diced tomatoes
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 cups green beans, trimmed and cut into 1/4″ pieces
1 cup cooked small pasta, such as small farfalle or elbows
1/2 cup canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1 15-oz can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
4 cups chopped fresh spinach
5 Tb grated Parm or vegan parm

Combine onions, carrots, celery, broth, water, tomatoes with their juice, oregano, salt and pepper in large pot; boil.
Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until carrots soften, 15 minutes.

Stir in green beans; cook, covered, until tender, about 8 minutes.
Add pasta, chickpeas, beans and spinach; stir until heated through, about 3 minutes. Makes 5 servings.

Enjoy each one topped with 1 Tbs of the vegan Parmesan

For Today:

I came to OA because I wanted to get well more than I wanted to eat. That is the steeady purpose that directs my life today. i place freedom from compulsive o ereating before everything else because I do not want to return to the life I had without it. Before OA, the only tranquility I knew was to anesthetize myself with food, an indulgence for which I paid dearly the rest of the time. Nothing could save me from the mental and emotional anguish and confusion of being fat, feeling guilty and hating myself for lack of control.
Today I am not confused about who I am and what I am doing. i am a compulsive overeater, relieved by the grace of God from the obsession, and recovering in this place I call home.

For today: Staying aware of my purpose in living by the OA program is my true source of peace of mind. Therefore it is my nuber one priority, and nothing -no food, no circumstance, no person – can tempt me to give it up.

My takeaway: My new life years before and since oa is better and i want more of it. plus, i WANT to eat real foods now!
